ServiceNow invests in Germany with two new data centres
The purse strings have been well and truly opened at ServiceNow as the company has announced a major German expansion
Germany has been identified as one of the fastest growing hubs in Europe (particularly Frankfurt), and ServiceNow’s announcement substantiates that.
ServiceNow will be launching two new cloud services data centres in Dusseldorf and Frankfurt and has plans in place to double its workforce across the nation before the end of next year.
The company asserts it has seen great success in the country with high-growth opportunities emerging from business’ digital transformation, particularly in healthcare and financial services.
ServiceNow asserts the new German data centre duo will work to improve the ServiceNow Nonstop Cloud. The company has provided the hardware, network engineering, load balancing, and software services to deliver the full Now Platform and all partner services at full capacity.
Ovum research director Maxine Holt says having infrastructure in-country is a great advantage for companies.
“As Ovum works with both EU and global customers to advise them on their migration to the cloud, it is clear that the provision of in-region and in-country data centres is a key element of building customer trust in cloud services,” says Holt.
“Ovum's 2018 Cloud Services survey indicates that data privacy and data sovereignty are, by a considerable margin, the number one ranked attribute for companies selecting a cloud service platform. This is particularly true of Germany, where both government legislation and business practice mandate a strong culture of data privacy.”
As Holt alluded to, ServiceNow EMEA SVP and GM Phillip van der Wilt says the company’s two new cloud service data centres will help to accelerate adoption by both German customers and managed service providers operating in the market.
“Data residency will continue to be an increasingly complex issue in Germany and across the rest of Europe and we want to give our customers choice and control. Germany is a key growth market for ServiceNow and we are significantly investing in the people, skills and talent, as well as physical hardware and virtualised software services, that we need to serve market demand both today and in the future,” says van der Wilt.
“With an advanced, high-availability architecture at the heart of our operational backbone, ServiceNow is ready to serve both global and local markets with world standard non-stop cloud services.”
ServiceNow has established a solid base across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), and has thus far already managed to secure more than 200 customers in Germany.
