Orange reveals goal to become global player in multi-cloud services

Orange Business Services has again expressed its desire to become a global player in multi-cloud services.
The France-based integrated comms provider acquired Basefarm in August this year, a cloud-based infrastructure and critical services provider with 11 data centres across four countries in Europe.
Now, Orange Business Services asserts it is moving on to the next phase of its plan of attack to make inroads into the multi-cloud services market.
The company quotes a recent study from Rightscale which found that on average, enterprises today are relying on five different cloud provider, of which 81 percent operate in a multi-cloud environment.
In respect to these findings, Orange Business Services asserts it has elected to be agnostic in its choice of cloud technologies with the hope to portray the company an integrator able to orchestrate applications in an end-to-end multi-cloud environment.
The company has set out to establish alliances with the big players in the industry. Having already partnered with Microsoft Azure, Orange Business Services have announced a new partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) with 100 experts trained on these technologies both in France and around the world.
In another step to branching out from its HQ in France and aid its goal in bringing in more than 50 percent of its revenue from outside its home nation, Orange Business Services has also announced a partnership with Huawei (among others). The company will be opening a new data centre in Amsterdam next month after launching a facility in Atlanta earlier this year.
Orange Business Services currently has approximately 2,200 cloud experts under its wing and asserts it is aiming to add 300 new global recruits in 2018 alone.
"Data has become the fourth production factor in the economy. Our goal is to enhance on our carrier-grade integrator expertise to support businesses throughout the entire data cycle from collection, to protection, analysis and sharing,” says Orange Business Services CEO Helmut Reisinger.
“The storage and calculation capacities offered by cloud computing and the opportunities for transformation and acceleration it offers businesses makes it key to our ambition and growth.”
