Crossword lands three new cybersecurity consulting contracts

Cyber Security

Crossword Cybersecurity is a professional services firm that focuses on the development and commercialisation of research-based cyber-security software, and cyber-security consulting. The group’s specialist cyber security product development and software engineering teams work with its university partners to develop the research concept into a fully-fledged commercial product that it will then take to market.

Amid strong demand for its services, Crossword has announced that its consulting division has signed several new agreements at the start of 2020. These include three with companies in the legal, insurance and financial services sectors, to help them improve their cyber security posture.

One project sees Crossword supporting a cyber-transformation, which has begun with a new client in the insurance industry; the fourth client Crossword has secured in the sector over the last 12 months. The consultants will assist the company in improving its cybersecurity posture, building a more resilient organisation through improved risk management structures and introducing ongoing technical testing.

At the same time, the consulting team has also started work with a UK law firm to implement new technical controls and a more risk-focused governance structure. This work follows a successful project carried out by Crossword to improve the organisation’s cybersecurity maturity and risk mitigation focus.

On top of this, Crossword’s Virtual Chief Information Security Officer (vCISO) product has also been rolled out by the consulting team within a global Investment Management firm – the third vCISO deal the team has secured. The vCISO service provides clients with a virtual cyber security team and network protection at a fraction of the cost of building their own in-house team, and this new project follows the successful completion of a project to implement processes and controls to demonstrate the company’s compliance with the widely recognised IASME governance standard.

Regarding the recent deal announcements, Stuart Jubb, Managing Director of Crossword Consulting, commented, “We are delighted that Crossword Cybersecurity’s consulting division has made a strong start to the year and gained further traction in several sectors... It is a pleasure to announce our third vCISO client and the number of vCISO opportunities in our pipeline continues to grow. We believe that by using our vCISO service, clients are able to have peace of mind that they are taking the right measures to protect themselves from cyber security attacks whilst achieving excellent value for money.”

Between 2019 and 2023, approximately $5.2 trillion in global value will be at risk from cyber-attacks, creating an on-going challenge for corporations and investors alike. With demand for cyber-security consulting set to continue booming in 2020, Crossword recently strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of a new Non-Executive Chair to its consulting subsidiary.
