CBRE To Manage 20 Data Centres Of Mobile Phone Company

CBRE Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) has been appointed to manage the total facilities management for telecoms and internet service provider Three UK.
Following a competitive tender process, CBRE GWS is now responsible for facilities management in the corporate, data centre and retail spaces occupied by Three UK. These include the company’s corporate offices in Maidenhead, Reading and Glasgow; the UK data centres and over 300 retail units across the country.
Pete Belmore, managing director of CBRE GWS, said: “We are delighted to be able to showcase the strength and agility of our FM services through this new contract with Three UK. We look forward to working across their portfolio of premises and spectrum of needs.”
In October, it was announced that CBRE’s Global Workplace Solutions business would now manage both data centre technology physical infrastructure – hardware and software – as well as data centre facilities.
The new converged data centre model encompasses services across the full real estate and IT lifecycle, including those in the advisory and project management disciplines, such as consulting, capital financing, site selection, development and project management, technology workload migration and disposition of facilities.
Last year, SSE Enterprise Telecoms signed a multi-million-pound contract agreement with Three UK, which saw the two companies working together to support the mobile network’s 5G expansion goals.
The deal is expected to support Three UK’s network transformation, preparing it for a 5G roll-out. In the first phase of the partnership, SSE began facilitating fibre optic connections for Three UK’s 20 core data centres. The previous year, Three UK signed a deal with Nokia to help ready its data centres for 5G.
