Bouygues to build second data center on Virtus' London campus

Data Centre

French contractors Bouygues Energy and Services Contracting will build Virtus' London6 data center on the colocation company's campus in Stockley Park.

The data center will be built with an overall floor area of 14,000 sq m (150,000 sq ft) and include 7,000 sq m (75,000 sq ft) of IT space. Built to Tier III standards, the facility will be adjacent to sister site London5.

When fully deployed, the data center will offer 16MW of critical IT load and, as it will be modular, some data halls will come online as early as March 2020, while the entire facility is scheduled for completion in November 2020.

London going live

Virtus opened the campus when London5 went live in 2018. The site covers 70,000 square meters (750,000 sq ft) and has a 40MW power capacity.

The company also plans to build two more facilities on the campus, London7, and London8; elsewhere it is working on another facility in Slough, codenamed London3.

“We continue to see a burgeoning demand for colocation in the UK data center market, as enterprises and cloud providers scale out their platforms to meet user demand for digital services,” Neil Cresswell, CEO of Virtus Data Centres, said.

“We offer our customers true flexibility in design and can tailor solutions to customers’ exact needs. Importantly, we also have a power and space road-map in London of over 100MW that can continue to support customers as their needs change and their businesses grow. We look forward to a successful 2018 and beyond, as we continue to meet the demands of a dynamic market.”

Virtus’ parent company, ST Telemedia Global Data Centres, owns and operates more than 50 data centers across India, China, Singapore, and the UK.
