e-shelter opens fourth data center campus in Frankfurt
NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), the ICT solutions and international communications business within the NTT Group (TYO: 9432), has this week announced the completion of phase 1 of its Frankfurt 4 Data Center through e-shelter, a subsidiary of NTT Com and one of the leading data center providers in Europe. Frankfurt 4 is the 12th operational data center location in the e-shelter portfolio.
Frankfurt 4 is located in Hattersheim in the south-west of the city. Once fully built out, the new campus features 24,000 sqm of IT space and 80 MW of IT load across five data center buildings, supporting high-density requirements.
The latest expansion further strengthens e-shelter's market-leading position in Frankfurt which is one of the fastest growing data center hotspots in Europe. The Hattersheim campus is located approximately 10 km linear distance from the existing e-shelter sites, Frankfurt 1 and Frankfurt 3 and therefore enables customers to seamlessly grow in the region and split deployments over multiple data center campuses to maximize redundancy and reliability.
The new site offers carrier-neutral colocation services, is connected to e-shelter's e-connect platform and provides access to multiple carriers and major cloud providers as well as to the world's largest internet exchange DE-CIX. Frankfurt 4 customers will have access to the e-shelter innovation lab, which allows customers and partners to test drive and validate cutting edge technology solutions and IT deployments in a live data center environment.
Rupprecht Rittweger, CEO of e-shelter commented today's opening: “Phase 1 of Frankfurt 4 was built in less than 12 months with significant capacity being rented to customers in advance of the opening. Frankfurt 4 strengthens our position as market leader leveraging a total capacity of more than 400 MVA in Europe with more than 300 MVA available in the Frankfurt region."
Frankfurt 4 is part of the powerful and scalable NTT Com's global data center network and connectivity ecosystem. Besides Frankfurt 4, e-shelter's current key expansion projects include developments in Amsterdam, Berlin, London and Madrid.
