Colt ranked second on Global Ethernet provider Leaderboard
Colt has climbed from third to second in the Vertical Systems 2018 Global Ethernet Provider Leaderboard, holding its position from the mid-year update. Thanks to strong growth in all markets and the continued expansion of the Colt IQ Network, Colt is ahead of CenturyLink, BT Global Services, Orange Business, Verizon and NTT.
In the last 12 months Colt has grown its IQ Network significantly, announcing rollouts and expansions in the US, Spain, Dublin, Berlin and Eastern Europe. These expansions now see the Colt IQ Network connect to more than 27,500 on net buildings and over 850 data centres globally. With the latest expansion in Sydney, global organisations are able to further take advantage of this burgeoning region, as well as the broader reach and density of the IQ Network.
“Multinational customers are massively upgrading bandwidth and expanding connectivity to cloud services and data centres. Ethernet providers with extensive global fibre footprints that deeply serve strategic business hubs are capturing a large portion of this new business,” said Rick Malone, principal of Vertical Systems Group.
The Leaderboard is the industry’s benchmark for multinational Ethernet network market presence, ranking companies that hold a 4% or higher share of billable retail ports at sites outside of their respective home countries. Port counts include switched Ethernet, Ethernet Private Line (EPL) and Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) services, as well as Ethernet access to Cloud/Internet, MPLS and other VPNs.
