Capita Unveils Major Cyber Security Investment
Capita plc has announced that its IT services division is launching a new security operations centre (SOC) in Belfast, the company's first in Northern Ireland.
The listed group said its new SOC represents a significant investment in Northern Ireland, reflecting the important role of, and increasing demand for, IT security and data governance.
It comes at a time when businesses are increasingly at a risk of a cyber-attack, with the proliferation of highly connected personal devices in the work place, increased use of cloud and online services, and rapidly advancing technology in IoT (Internet of Things).
"Our new Security Operations Centre in Belfast will be a top of the range facility, bringing cutting-edge, end-to-end security services to our clients in the region," said Capita IT Services' Ed Brown.
"Cyber security is an ongoing concern for companies as cyber-attacks become more sophisticated and expose them to financial, legal and reputational risks.
"Our Security Operations Centre provides clients with the technological capability, expertise and resources to withstand IT security challenges, so that they can focus on what they do best - running their businesses."
The SOC is a purpose-built, private and secure facility located at the Capita IT Services Centre of Excellence in Belfast.
It adds to the three existing centres Capita currently operates in the UK and India, and provides a substantial service spread across Capita's key locations, with the capacity and resilience to provide excellent service on a 24/7 basis.
Joe Hemming, executive director, Capital IT and Networks, added: "In response to continued client demand, the launch of this centre represents our commitment to invest in the Northern Ireland market and our enhanced support for our established customer base.
"With the first IT and data security centre of its kind in the region, we are leading the market in the delivery of cutting-edge digital and tech solutions for our clients."
