Mitel Partners with Liverpool FC

Canadian telecomms firm Mitel has increased its presence in the English Premier League by signing a multi-year partnership with Liverpool Football Club.
Mitel is the choice of the MLB’s Boston Red Sox, who like Liverpool FC, are owned by John Henry’s Fenway Sports Group.
The new Liverpool partnership will see Mitel become the Global Unified Communications Partner, tasked with implementing a new cloud-based comms platform for the Merseyside club to improve fan experiences, employee collaboration and efficiency.
Earlier this year Mitel agreed a similar partnership with Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, providing the London club’s telecommunications systems for Spurs’ new stadium.
The agreement with Liverpool will be implemented across Anfield, head offices, the Club’s Melwood training facility and retail facilities, with its unified cloud platform focused on delivering reliability, efficiency and security.
The Club plans to use this partnership to also deliver an improved fan experience by reducing wait times. The telecoms firm claims its omnichannel functionability will link supporter contacts across all voice and digital platforms to provide a more universal view of interactions. Service agents will also benefit from deeper insights into each supporter’s engagement history, resulting in a more tailored fan experience.
Commenting on its latest venture into the Premier League, Jeremy Butt, Mitel’s senior vice president (international) said: “Highly competitive organisations like Liverpool Football Club understand the importance of building all aspects of performance into their game plans, including the key role communications and collaboration play on and off the pitch. Mitel is honoured to partner with LFC and deliver cloud services that will help elevate their Club operations, increase staff productivity and support fan engagement.”
Billy Hogan, managing director and chief commercial officer at Liverpool Football Club, added: “We are always looking for ways to enhance the experience that we provide to our supporters. With Mitel’s expertise, we will upgrade our technology and improve the speed and quality of our service.”
News of the partnership with Liverpool arrives a week after Mitel were announced as the title partner of the historic Major League Baseball (MLB) London Series, which will feature the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox next summer in London Stadium.
Mitel signed a multi-year partnership with Major League Baseball in February, which saw it become the Official Technology and Communications Partner for the MLB, further enhancing its presence in the US.
In an interview with Sport Industry Group, Mitel vice president Richard Roberts has described the first MLB to be staged in Europe as “an opportunity we had to grab” and one they envisage will “blow people away.”
