Westcon, Enghouse and TalkTalk Signal UC Growth

The number of industry players pointing to the UC market as one that is fertile ground for resellers continues to rise

The evidence that there are serious channel opportunities in the unified comms space continue to mount up with TalkTalk Business and Westcon the latest to signal success in the area.


Yesterday fellow distributor Nimans launched a service to help those resellers selling UC and quoted numbers that forecasted significant growth in demand for services like Skype for Business.

Following on from that update Westcon has revealed that it has also seen its UCC business, when partnering with Enghouse Interactive, deliver close to a 300% increase in sales revenues year-on-year in 2016.

Most of that growth came from sales of Microsoft’s Skype for Business with Enghouse rolling out 450 deployments with additional Avaya and Cisco UC business adding to the mix.

Dawn Fenton, UCC commercial director, Westcon-Comstor, said that it had worked with Enghouse Interactive in deploying customer contact solutions on Microsoft Skype for Business.

Jas Jhita, channel director of Enghouse Interactive, said that it was working with the distributor on plans for this year and saw no reason why it could not continue to grow sales further.

“We have also focused on working with Westcon-Comstor to on-board new partners and develop existing ones, an approach that has helped both to expand the reseller base and unlock new revenue-generating opportunities throughout 2016,” he said.

Talk Talk is also sharing some research, which has found that a quarter of UK firms are still unaware that ISDN telephone lines will be switched off in 2025.

“IP Voice products like SIP Trunking and Hosted Voice are essential for businesses looking to not only reduce telephony costs, but also adopt more modern approaches to work, such as those offered by collaboration and unified communications tools,” said Guy Miller, director of next generation voice at TalkTalk Business.

“Organisations that have made the switch to IP Voice (including Hosted Voice in addition to SIP) have more than justified the business case they made when it comes to reducing costs. Moreover, they’ve also deployed reliable systems that will reduce the chance of costly outages and provide them with futureproof technology, ready for the workforce of tomorrow,” he added.
