Service Restored To AT&T Customers

Posted by Admin | March 13, 2017 | Unified Commuication

Karima Holmes, director of unified communications for the Washington, D.C. government tweeted that there was a nationwide outage for AT&T and instructed customers on how to contact 911.

Pai said he already spoke to AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson and “stressed the urgent need to restore service and to communicate with first responders”, and has directed the Commission staff to “track down the root cause of this outage”.

The Federal Communications Commission is investigating why some AT&T wireless customers were unable to dial 911.

The FCC is now looking into the cause of Wednesday night’s 911 outage affecting AT&T customers here and in at least a dozen states.

“When we tested it out using an AT&T carrier, we were getting a busy signal”, said Sgt. Jesse Salame of the San Antonio Police Department.

But emergency authorities across the country confirmed 911 outages and publicized direct police, fire and ambulance dispatch telephone numbers that AT&T customers should call in emergencies.

The FCC has previously fined service providers for outages.

AT&T is aware of the problem and has been advised that this is affecting several areas.

So, in response, Kagel says they went on Twitter and Facebook to get critical information out to the public.
